Nathanael Harbison-Division 3, Business Owner
Born and raised in Bakersfield, but always had family in Tehachapi. I’ve always considered Tehachapi a second home. I moved back to Tehachapi in 2016 to take care of my grandfather, which reignited my love of the community.
In 2017, I began developing in Tehachapi and surrounding communities and I’ve continued to grow my business with the support of the great people of this community. Since then, I’ve become heavily involved in charity work, often volunteering time every month to the Visitors Center as well as year-round events and often making donations to some of the amazing causes supported by our community members.
I am personally and financially vested in the community. I am adamant about the health, safety and future of our citizens. Being a member of the water board I feel like I can provide positive impactful guidance that will help bring forward smart future use of our precious resources.
Joel Peel-Division 5, Independent Salesman/Realtor
I am running for this position to protect Tehachapi’s water future and the three basins managed by the Tehachapi Cummings County Water District to ensure that water being paid for and subsidized by the residential taxpayers is being delivered to their appropriate water agencies.
As a board member I will ensure that water is delivered on behalf of the taxpaying residents that account for over 50% of the property taxes paid to TCCWD. As has been well-documented recently, those residents have received little of that water over the last several years due to special interest-led priorities.
I have lived in Tehachapi since 1987, am a graduate of Tehachapi High School, as are all my children. I am an active father and stepfather that has been and continues to be involved with youth sports, the Tehachapi Warriors Booster Club and my career as an independent salesman to the renewable energy industry and aerospace.
As Tehachapi continues to be an attractive place to live and work, we need a secure stored water supply on behalf of the residents that pay the annual property tax to this agency. A vote for me is a vote for the residential taxpayer and against special interests.
